20-year-old critically injured in crash involving semi

ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) -

The Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious traffic accident between a semi and a pick-up truck.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on US 20 east of SR 301 in Elyria.

The driver of the Ford F150 lost control, crossed the median and was struck by the semi. The pick-up driver is Emily Williams, 20, of Wellington.

Williams was wearing her safety belt and was extricated from her vehicle by Carlisle Fire Department.  She received incapacitating injuries and was transported to Elyria Hospital by Life Care EMS and then flown to Cleveland MetroHealth Hospital by Metro Life Flight.

The driver of the Freightliner was identified as Norris L. Bragg, 56, of Euclid.  Bragg was wearing his safety belt and received non incapacitating injuries.  Bragg was transported to Elyria Hospital by Life Care EMS.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected and this crash remains under investigation.
The westbound lanes of US 20 were closed for approximately one hour due to the crash.
