Winter may have frozen the grounds at Chateau Vineyard , on Hough Avenue, but it hasn't stopped one Cleveland man's determination to make an impact in his community.
Built in 2010, the Vineyards of Chateau Hough is the radical brain child of community activist Mansfield Frazier.
"Hough is best known for the Hough Riots and I wanted Hough to be known for something else," said Frazier.
The goal of the vineyard is to stimulate the city's economy by creating wealth and providing jobs.
The vineyard has already produced 17,000 bottles of wine that are undergoing fermentation.
But as Frazier's passion to help his community is hot, the vineyard's growth is at a frigid standstill.
"We don't know what's going to happen come spring, we don't know if some of the buds got killed or all of them got killed," said Frazier. "It's out of our hands -- it's mother nature."
All of the vines produce cold weather grapes which are bred to survive harsh winters.
Despite the vineyard's uncertain future, Frazier is certain about expanding the area.
The construction of a bio-cellar will be completed in May.
