Tribe stomp the Reds in second spring game

The Indians cruised to a 12-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds this afternoon at Goodyear Ballpark, an effort aided by three home runs and a dozen base hits.

Minor league backstop Jake Lowery had the big blow of the day, lifting a 5th-inning grand slam to build a 7-2 lead. Elliot Johnson (4th inn.) and Tyler Naquin (7th) also delivered 2-run shots for the Tribe, while Nyjer Morgan drove in and also scored a pair of runs with the help of two hits.

Justin masterson tossed a scoreless frame in his first Cactus League start and Carlos Carrasco later retired all six batters he faced with a pair of strikeouts. David Aardsma, Josh Outman, Blake Wood and Tyler Cloyd also turned in scoreless innings, as the Indians staff issued just three walks in the contest.

Tomorrow Cleveland will cap a stretch of three straight games against Cincinnati with a 3:05PM ET tilt at Goodyear Ballpark.
