PAINESVILLE, OH (WOIO) -

Two brothers have been arrested in connection with a Painesville Township home invasion that left one man covered in blood, with numerous lacerations, and swollen areas on his head.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office detective bureau arrested Kalvin Kangas, and his brother Eric Fortune in conjunction with the burglary and beating that allegedly happened Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014.

The victim is identified as Louis Rogelio Claudio.

The investigation began when Madison Avenue Elementary School officials alerted police and sheriff deputies about suspicious activity involving one of their students.

They reported that two women, who did not have permission, came to pick up Claudio's son.

School officials explained to deputies that they did not release the boy and asked the Sheriff's Office for further assistance.

While deputies went Claudio's home to investigate, school officials called and explained that the father, who was covered in blood, had just come to the school and picked up his son.

Kangas and Fortune are being held as co-conspirators in this case.

The men were arrested in Ashtabula County and are now in the Lake County Jail.

The case remains under investigation.
