Gospel reality show stops in Memphis to scout talent

(WMC-TV) - Hundred's of aspiring gospel singers were hoping for their big break on Saturday when reality TV show producers came to Memphis scouting for talent.

Producers from Black Entertainment Television came to Memphis on Saturday in search of the best gospel singers. Hopefuls flocked to Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church Saturday hoping for a spot on BET's reality singing competition, Sunday Best.

"I've been out here since 7:00 a.m. this morning, I'm super excited," said singer, India Pinckney.

Cierra Stingley gave Action News 5 a preview of what she hopes will music to the judges ears.

The reality TV series chose Memphis as part of a multi-city tour for Season Seven auditions.

"Its a huge deal for the city as well as for this church," said Orlando Ross, member of Mississippi Boulevard.

They are using the gift that God gave them, and hoping that gift will bring them national exposure.

"I sing in church so I'm thinking I have a chance to just make it," added LaShantar Shins.

The winner of Sunday best wins a recording contract and an automobile.
