Parma Woman Dies in Massive Turnpike Crash, Frigid WX, 11-Year-Old Killed in Portage Co

turnpike crash (Sandusky County) turnpike crash (Sandusky County)
The three people killed in a massive pileup on the turnpike Wednesday afternoon have been identified.
Hannah Matheny, 20, of Parma; Grzegorz Piwowarczyk, 42, of Palatine, Illinois; and Janice Robb, 66, of Schererville, Indiana were killed.
The crashes stretched over a mile and involved more than 20 vehicles between milepost 101 and 102 in Sandusky County, bringing traffic to a standstill for hours.
As of 8 a.m. Thursday, the westbound lanes of the turnpike are open, but one lane remains closed eastbound between Fremont and Sandusky.
Trooper Andrew Clouser, 29, was also severely injured in the eastbound crash and remains hospitalized at St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo in the ICU.
It's believed poor visibility and blizzard-like conditions contributed to the deadly accident. The crash remains under investigation.

Frigid temperatures and wind chills will be the weather story today. Look for a few, random, lake effect flurries to start the day. This arctic airmass will be brief but will be with us throughout the day. A good deal of sun is expected but temperatures will only make it to around 20 degrees - that's 25 degrees below "average". Warmer air will move in tonight and temperatures will be rising. Friday we will be back to at least the 50 degree mark or higher. Blustery southwest winds may make it feel a bit chillier.
The Portage County Sheriffs Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday at 695 Johnson Road in Franklin Township, Portage County.
Officers were called to the address at 11:32 am. for a shooting. When they arrived they found a dead 11-year-old boy. He had been shot.
The suspect, who discharged the weapon, is also a juvenile and is cooperating with the investigation.
Authorities are continuing the investigation assisted by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Sources say the shooter and the suspect were related and the two were playing with a gun.
