Visitors find hangout spots outside the Masters

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

When they're not inside Augusta National, residents and visitors alike have found their ultimate hangout spots.

"I think, you know what it is, it's this atmosphere. It's that time of year. This is like Christmas for every golfer there ever was," said Brad Fox, who lives in Augusta.

Fox said he chooses to hang out at out at the Roadrunner Café on Washington Road for its close proximity to the gates and the people.

"It's just an eclectic crowd and you get to experience people from all over that come here for the Masters and they're just enjoying their time with good people from the south and that's what it's all about," Fox said.

People like Grant who traveled from South Africa to attend his first Masters tournament.

"It's basically for my dad," Grant said. "It's on a bucket list that he's wanted to do for a few years and we decided let's do it. We came over no tickets and we got tickets for Monday, Wednesday and Sunday."

But like Fox, when he isn't at the Masters, Grant says he will be at the bar.

"This bar is unbelievable," Grant said. "It's beautiful. We are here Thursday through Sunday, definitely watching the Masters."

Brandon Conyers, a manager at Roadrunner Cafe, suspects a certain kind of atmosphere attracts both local residents and visitors during this week.

"We just have that good friendly atmosphere," Conyers said. "We love to take care of our patrons. We want to make everybody enjoy Augusta, Georgia. It's more than just Augusta National for us. It's a hometown for us."

Roadrunner Cafe said it hopes to welcome guests from all over throughout the remainder of the week.
