Chicago, IL (WOIO) - Danny Salazar accomplished a Major League-first on Thursday night, becoming the first pitcher in the Modern Era to strike out 10 while going fewer than four innings, in a 7-3 loss to the White Sox.
Salazar looked dominant early, striking out the side in the first, but the Sox started to slowly get to him beginning in the second. Jose Abreu took him deep for a mammoth home run to center, then Alexi Ramirez followed it up with a solo home run of his own in the third. Ramirez also got to him for a two-run double in the fuorth, to give Chicago the lead for good, 5-3. Salazar lasted just three and two-thirds, striking out 10, and giving up five runs.
Asdrubal Cabrera went deep for the Tribe, and Jason Kipnis and Ryan Raburn added RBI's.
