Tribe uses long ball to beat KC

Michael Brantley and Jason Kipnis both hit two-run homers to lead the Indians to a 4-3 win against the Kansas City Royals at Progressive Field on Monday.

Brantley gave the Tribe the lead in the 4th inning with his two-run homer while Kipnis connected with Jeremy Gurthrie overcoming the 3-2 deficit later in the 6th.

Kansas City did all of their damage in the fifth. They scored three times, sparked by a throwing error Zach McAllister. Alcides Escobar and Omar Infante both drove in runs in the frame.

McAllister gave up six hits and three runs (two earned) and overcame three errors to earn his third victory of the year. Marc Rzepczynski and Cody Allen pitched a hitless inning each, and closer John Axford worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his seventh save.

Even with a pesky squirrel providing some extra entertainment on the infield and outfield during the second inning.
