KENT, OH (WOIO) -
Faculty members took out a full page ad in the Kent State campus newspaper

The University has handed over to media outlets through open records requests more 500 documents including 20 names of applicants and expense records.
are not trying to hid anything. We are trying to hand over everything we have
in our possession and we believe we have done that," said Eric Mansfield, Executive Director, Kent State University Media Relations.
Kent State has refused to hand over their final list of potential candidates.
The Kent State student newspaper and some faculty are not happy.
"What has Kent State done? It has refused to provide records. It has
shredded those records. Is that OK with the Attorney General. What will
the Governor do?" asked Karl Idsvoog with Kent State School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
instructors are questioning Kent State's transparency and ethics.
"We have an agreement between this university and a private firm in
Pennsylvania that allows that firm to determine what is public record in Ohio.
Not a single Dean objects? Not a single Department Chair objects?" complained instructor Idsvoog.
Kent State officials say some of their finalists might not want their current
employer to know they were thinking about leaving.
"The Board believes confidentially at least towards an end of a search
brings in the best candidates and this is a best practice used by major
Universities and research Universities across the Country," stated Eric Mansfield.
