LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - One kick and one home run at a time confidence soared.

"Awesome!" yelled out 12-year-old Joseph Pfeiffer after scoring a winning run.

UofL's Trager Stadium has seen its share of athletes, victories and defeats, but hardly ever a game with this much heart.

"It makes me feel great!," another athlete said.

Dozens of athletes, some with intellectual or developmental disabilities and some not, hustled for this year's Hoodie Huddle.

New England Patriot Head Coach Bill Belichick, was on his way to do some coaching for the kids, but traffic left him stranded in E-town.  But even so, the competition was fierce.

The event is organized by several local groups as a chance to celebrate each other's talents and make new friends.

"Joy, happiness, and they are having a good time, they are playing together and they are having fun," Penny Michalak with Angels in Disguise said.

But it wasn't just about the game on the field, according to 16 year old Dallas Derringer.

"All the pretty college girls," he laughed.

Even with the rain smiles abounded.
