"Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it," according to the book of Proverbs. Hello, I'm Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed.
Too many of our young people are growing up fatherless and losing their way in life … practicing risky behaviors and committing acts of violence. We see it almost every day here in Cleveland and neighboring cities and towns. We must work together and this work needs to start with fathers.
This Father's Day weekend, fathers and men from all over this great country will join the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials to pledge an end to violence in our homes and neighborhoods.
I'm calling for all of the men in Greater Cleveland to come together and commit to taking an active role in the lives of young men and women. Here in Cleveland we will gather at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 14 at the Old Stone Church on Public Square. We will march to City Hall and gather on the steps at noon to speak out against violence. Join us.
Together we can make Cleveland a safer place to live and give teens a better path and a better future.
