CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A Hamilton County judge sentenced a Mount Airy man on Wednesday to nine years in prison for the April 2013 shooting of a man in Mount Airy who later died.

On April 8, 2013, Cincinnati Police responded to the 5800 block of Renee Court for a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found Cedrick Taylor, 42, suffering from a gunshot wound. Taylor was transported to Mercy Franciscan Hospital-Mt. Airy where he died.

Police arrested Demetrius Dennis, 22, last October. He pleaded guilty May 9 to voluntary manslaughter and having weapons while under disability.

During the sentencing hearing before Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Norbert Nadel, Taylor's mother spoke and cried. Dennis apologized to Taylor's family, saying if he could go back change things, he would.
