Cedar Point is back in business following water main repairs

SANDUSKY, OH (WOIO) -

Repairs that closed Cedar Point over the weekend are now complete and the amusement park is back on track. The park is scheduled to have normal business hours for Monday, June 9.

For many it was a disappointing weekend when they learned of Cedar Point closing up shop.

On Saturday, June 7 a major water main break forced the park to shutdown for two days as repairs where made.

Due to safety and sanitation concerns, the park was evacuated around 11 a.m. and three of the park's resorts were closed to guests who had planned on big fun for the first weekend of June.  Those resorts on the park's peninsula were Hotel Breakers, Sandcastle Suites and Lighthouse Point.

During that time Castaway Bay Indoor Waterpark Resort and Breakers Express remained open and guests were assured that they could cancel or reschedule their reservations.

For the guests who came from both near and far just to spend a day riding roller coasters, Cedar Point says that tickets will be honored on future dates.

On Sunday, June 8, around 1 p.m. the amusement park released the following statement:

We are happy to announce that Cedar Point and Soak City will reopen on Monday, June 9. Normal park hours are 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. with Early Entry for Platinum Pass holders and Cedar Point Resorts guests at 9 a.m.

The City of Sandusky has completed the necessary repairs to the main water line into Cedar Point.

Guests staying at Hotel Breakers, Lighthouse Point and Sandcastle Suites may purchase admission tickets beginning at 8 a.m. at these properties. Check-in will begin at 4 p.m.

In celebration of our reopening, we're offering a special money-saving deal to our valued guests - the H20 Offer! Buy a one-day Cedar Point admission ticket now through Sunday, June 15 and receive a FREE Soak City ticket!

The Cedar Point one-day ticket for this offer is $39.99, a savings of $20 off the gate price and must be used by Sunday, June 15, 2014. Free Soak City ticket is valid for use any one day through September 1, 2014. Offer is available online only and not available at park ticket booths.
