KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Many people showed up early to secure their spot on the lawn to watch some fireworks at KC Riverfest at Berkley Riverfront Park.

The big Fourth of July event runs from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and includes food of almost every variety, children's activities, interactive booths as well as two music stages. A total of eight bands are playing throughout the day between the stages.

The big fireworks show begins at 10:15 p.m. Admission is just $5. Tickets are available online and at the gate. Only cash is accepted at the gate. From 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. admission is free. Children 12 and under are free.

Visitors can bring lawn chairs and blankets, but can't bring outside food or beverages, coolers or pets.

Parking is first come, first served at City Market and costs $10, but people can save their money to use on other things by using the shuttle service.

KC RiverFest offers free shuttle service, operating until 11:15 p.m. on the Fourth of July. The shuttles will make pickups and drop-offs at the following locations:

  • Third and Grand
  • Fifth and Grand
  • Seventh and Grand

The shuttle will operate to and from the RiverFest front gate for the duration of the event.
