SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Another Shreveport mayoral hopeful is throwing her hat in the ring. Shreveport native and Highland Resident Victoria Provenza is hoping she will be the next mayor of Shreveport. She is a geologist, who explained her passion to better Shreveport is deep. She has never run for office before and will be running as an Independent.

Provenza wants to bring in a fresh new perspective, by running the city as a business.

"One of the biggest reasons why I want to run for mayor is because I am passionate about building a better Shreveport, I think I have the skills, the knowledge, and experience from a business perspective to actually lead in an executive role to move the city forward,” said Provenza.

She will formally announce this Sunday at Mandina's Grill on Fannin Street in Shreveport at 5 p.m. July 6.
