MEDINA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

The Medina Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal, two-vehicle crash that happened Thursday around 4:45 p.m. OSHP says the crash occurred on US-42 near milepost 6 at the intersection of Vandemark Road.

According to OSHP, Cory Chaplin, 23, of Litchfield, OH, was stopped at a stop sign in his Chrysler LeBaron on Vandemark. When he pulled into the intersection, he was struck broadside by Gregory Kemp, 58, of Berea, OH, who was driving a Ford F-750 on US-42. Both vehicles came to rest in the median.

Chaplin sustained fatal injuries from the crash, according to OSHP. He was transported to Medina General Hospital by EMS.

Kemp sustained minor injuries and was transported to Lodi Community Hospital.

US-42 westbound was limited to one lane of traffic for approximately two hours while crews assisted at the scene.
