Cleveland Police were busy investigating four separate shootings within a 12-hour period.

The first shooting was reported around 6:45 p.m. Friday at Kerruish Park on Tarkington but when police arrived they didn't find anything. A short time later, they received information that a 21-year old man had arrived at Southpointe Hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck. The victim had been shot at the park. He is recovering at Metro. Witnesses reported seeing two vehicles in the parking lot of the park firing guns at one another. The vehicles were both occupied by multiple people.

Then at around 11:30 p.m. officers responded to the 2200 block of East 82nd Street for a 17-year old shot. The victim was conscious with a gunshot wound to his back. The teen told police that he was sitting on a porch with a group of people when a black truck drove by and someone fired shots at the group. He was taken to Metro as well.

A few hours later, around 2:30 in the morning, police responded to the 1200 block of W. 9th for a large crowd and for people setting off fireworks. Officers were attempting to move the crowd along when shots were heard coming from the parking lot of the Bingham apartments. Officers found a 19-year-old woman from Willoughby with a gunshot wound to the ankle.  The victim described the shooter and officers arrested Dennis Coates, 29, a short time later. The victim was taken to Metro by EMS and the suspect was taken to jail.  So far no charges been filed.

A second early morning shooting occurred at 4:00 a.m. on East 71 and Superior. The 46-year-old male victim told police he was riding his bicycle past Club Sky High when he heard several shots. Bullets grazed his hand and leg. He was treated at the scene by EMS for minor injuries.
