Cleveland Hopkins International Airport opened its gates for the Fifth Annual Plane Pull to benefit Special Olympics Ohio (SOOH) on Saturday, July 12, 2014 in the I-X Center parking lot.

"This year, we are celebrating our fifth year hosting this event and partnership with Special Olympics Ohio and we look forward to another five years," said Airport Director Ricky Smith.

During the CLE Plane Pull, teams of 20 people had one chance to pull a United Airlines Boeing 737, weighing up to 150,000 pounds, 12 feet in the fastest time. Prizes were awarded for the fastest team pull in the Men's, Co-Ed, Female and Public Safety divisions.

Each team was required to raise a minimum $750 per team to participate (or $37.50 per person) and may also raise additional funds to be eligible for top fundraiser team and top individual fundraiser.

The CLE Plane Pull has raised more than $100,000 for Special Olympics athletes.

Special Olympics Ohio serves more than 23,000 athletes throughout the state, including 4,500 athletes in the Greater Cleveland Area and 2,000 in the Cleveland Municipal School District.

The Cleveland Plane Pull was free and open to the public.

Visitors to the event will also enjoyed the Kids Zone which included a super slide, an obstacle course, sports arena and pirate adventure.

There was also a photo booth with props, food trucks and more.
