Another busy Sunday: CPD handle shooting, SWAT situation

Cleveland Police were busy again on another warm, summer Sunday.

A 44-year-old man was shot twice in the back in an alley near E. 56th Place and Drake around 4pm. Police say the suspect is the ex-boyfriend of a woman and the victim is believed to be her current boyfriend.

The suspects name has not been released. He was arrested for felonious assault and the shooting is still under investigation.

Police were also at the scene of a SWAT standoff at 18714 Kildeer Avenue. Police tell 19 Action News the suspect is divorced from his wife and showed up at the house, demanding to see his kids.

Police say the man began threatening his wife with a gun. The woman and children were able to leave the home while the suspect went upstairs.

Police were able to convince the man to surrender Sunday night a few hours after the standoff began.
