Duke joined Jordan's family when they were expecting their first child. Not long after their daughter turned one, Duke was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of bone tumor. Duke underwent surgery to remove his leg, as well as a successful chemotherapy regimen.
Not long after, though, Duke was diagnosed with hemngiosarcoma. With the tumor growing rapidly, the family began running out of options. Although he would improve during the day, nights were difficult as the tumor began to separate his ribs.
"We struggled with the decision to let Dukey go, but ultimately did everything in our power to protect him from further pain," said Jordan. "With the help from our friends, Dukey had a beautiful day filled with love and happiness. We should all be so lucky."
