Commuters who take I-77 in and out of Cleveland may want to make alternate plans the rest of the week.
The Ohio Department of Transportation announced several closings through the rest of this week for the bridge deck replacement project.
Overnight Wednesday, July 16, crews will close the I-77 southbound exit ramp to I-480 eastbound from 8 to 10 p.m. This closing is to replace equipment for the bridge deck pour scheduled for Thursday night.
Thursday night, the I-77 exit ramp will be closed at 480 eastbound at 8 p.m. Crews will also close the right two lanes of I-77 southbound between I-480 and Grant Avenue. These closures will continue overnight until 6 a.m. Friday morning, "in order to complete bridge deck pouring operations," according to ODOT.
During Thursday's closings, all traffic heading south on I-77 must use the left lane only to continue. Drivers going toward I-480 eastbound from downtown Cleveland will be directed via I-490 west to SR 176 south, then to I-480 east. Other drivers will be detoured via Rockside Road to I-77 north to I-480 east.
Through Friday, July 18, the right lane of I-77 southbound will close to through traffic between SR 21 and I-480 daily from 9 a.m. to noon for material delivery. All through traffic must use the left lane/contraflow lane. The ramp from I-77 south to I-480 east will remain open during this time.
All road work at this time is weather permitting.
