(CNN) - Microsoft announced the largest layoff in its history Thursday.
CEO Satya Nadella says a total of 18,000 jobs will be cut within the next year.
That's about 14 percent of its 125,000 employees.
Nadella, who took over for Steve Ballmer in February, said Microsoft is in need of a "culture change."
Most of those affected will come from Nokia's devices and services business, which Microsoft recently bought.
