A 24-year-old Kansas City man is charged in connection with an armed robbery of a man selling an Xbox, and the man is also linked to a Craigslist robbery and shooting the same day.

Debvon L. Buckner is charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. These charges are related to the Xbox robbery.

Buckner and three others have been questioned about the shooting of a Liberty couple who responded to a car listing, but no charges have been filed against anyone in connection with that case.

"Both robberies and the shooting remain under investigation," according to a statement from the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office.

According to court records, Buckner and two other men met a man selling an Xbox video game system. The victim had listed the game for sale on Craigslist and met the men in the 8800 block of Crystal Avenue. This occurred about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

One of the men pointed the gun at the victim and demanded that he hand over the system. The victim later identified Buckner as the man who took the game system, accessories and two video games while another man pointed the weapon at him.

A telephone number used to contact the victim to set up the sale was also used in connection with the robbery and shooting of a Liberty couple who had traveled to south Kansas City Wednesday night to test drive a vehicle with their 16-year-old son. The vehicle had been listed on Craigslist.

Three men robbed the couple. The man was shot four times while the woman was shot once. The teen was shaken but not injured.

There is a $7,000 Crime Stoppers reward for information related to the second Craigslist case.

According to court documents, police got an order to track the phone because of the escalating nature of the violent crimes. Police tracked the phone on Thursday to the area of U.S. 40 Highway and Sterling Avenue where Buckner and a second man were boarding a metro bus, prosecutors said. A partially disassembled smartphone was found where Buckner had been seated at the bus stop.

Prosecutors are asking a Jackson County judge to set Buckner's bond at $150,000.

The XBox victim was supposed to meet the suspects in the apartment complex where the couple was robbed and shot. The two crime scenes were about a mile apart and occurred less than three hours apart.

Two other men who were associated with a second telephone used in the Xbox robbery were taken into custody on Friday at a Grandview apartment complex.

Those who know the man injured in the Craigslist shooting say he is a great friend, father and husband who is a true hero. He jumped in front of the bullets to save his family.
