Jason Kipnis homered twice and drove in four and Michael Brantley had four base hits to lead the Indians past the Tigers 9-3 in the first game of their four game series.
The Tribe trailed 3-0 until the seventh when they scored seven times to take command of the game. Kipnis drilled a three-run homer to make it 6-3 and blow it open. Asdrubal Cabrera followed him with a solo drive to make it back to back home runs.
Trevor Bauer threw six innings and allowed three runs to get the win and even is record at 4-4 on the year.
Nick Swisher also delivered a pair of hits and three RBIs.
The win pulled the Indians to 6.5 games back of Detroit in the Central Division.
