LEROY TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) -

Two men were hospitalized after a rollover accident in Leroy Township Saturday morning.

Around 8:30 a.m., deputies from the Lake County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to 12791 Painesville-Warren Road for the accident.

According to the sheriff's office, preliminary investigation reveals a 2008 Toyota Corolla traveling southbound on state Route 86 drifted off the left side of the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a drainage ditch.

The sheriff's office says the force of the impact caused the vehicle to roll several times and eject the passenger. The vehicle then struck a large wooden sign and came to rest in a church parking lot.

Both the driver and the passenger sustained injuries and were transported to TriPoint Medical Center for medical treatment. The driver was then flown to MetroHealth Hospital for additional treatment.

The accident is under investigation.
