Minneapolis, MN (WOIO) - Josh Willingham's solo home run in the 8th broke a 3-3 tie, and proved be the difference, as the Twins took the series opener from the Indians on Monday, 4-3 at Target Field.
Roberto Perez had tied the game at three with a single to center in the top of the 8th, scoring Michael Brantley, the third time the Indians had rallied in the game.
The Twins jumped on T.J. House early, getting to the Tribe starter for two runs in the second on Kurt Suzuki's double that brought home Kendrys Morales and Willingham.
Chris Dickerson cut into the lead with an RBI single in the third, scoring Mike Aviles, and Yan Gomes' RBI double in the 5th would help the Tribe rally again, but Willingham's solo homer off Bryan Shaw dealt the Indians their second straight loss.
