CANTON, OH (WOIO) -
Opening statements begin today in the trial of a man accused of murdering a Stark County World War II veteran seven years ago.

Chester Ray Crank, 33, is charged with aggravated murder and aggravated burglary.

Canton Police say Crank murdered Bennie Angelo, 87, in January of 2007 then set his house on fire to cover-up the crime.

Angelo, a Pearl Harbor survivor, was shot to death in his Endrow Avenue home.

Crank was not arrested until September of 2013.
