STRONGSVILLE, OH (WOIO) - A Strongsville couple thought they were getting a deal on meat when a truck pulled up at their home in June. The couple bought various types of steaks but later found them to be of very poor quality and virtually inedible.
The salesmen said they had excess inventory that they needed to unload, claiming to be from Great American Steak Company.
Hoping to get their money back, they called the number on their receipt and left messages that were never returned.
This scenario is all too common during summer months when door-to-door meat sellers travel through local neighborhoods trying to unload deals on meat.
The Better Business Bureau offers some tips. Check the sellers rating at BBB, research the company online and ask to view the meat on the truck. Make sure that the truck is refrigerated and meat is properly labeled.
