CONCORD TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - The Chardon Post of Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious motor vehicle accident that left four teens injured.
The accident happened on Wednesday, July 23 at 9:54 p.m. on Girdled Road just west of State Route 608.
Two 16-year-olds were traveling westbound on Girdled Road when the driver of a 2013 Chevy Camaro tried to pass a slower moving car and struck a 2005 Chevy Impala head on.
17-year-old Abigale Yates, the driver of the Impala, was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center for serious injuries. She was last listed in critical but stable condition. Abigale's 17-year-old passenger was transported to Tri-Point Hospital for incapacitating injuries. The occupants of the Camaro were also taken to Tri-Point for minor injuries.
Authorities say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. At this point in the ongoing investigation the main contributing factor is the car traveling left of center.
Concord Township and Chardon Fire and EMS all responded to the scene.
