CONNEAUT, OH (WOIO) - The Ninth Coast Guard District reports that a 38-foot pleasure craft is still resting on a break wall after running aground inside the Conneaut Harbor on Tuesday afternoon.
A 25-foot response boat was launched from the station. Three passengers were removed safely and there were no reported injuries.
The owner of the boat, with the help of friends, tried to pull the water craft off the wall with towlines. After an unsuccessful attempt, the man agreed to contact a commercial salvage company.
The commercial salvage crew was also unable to remove the vessel from the rocks, and the owner is now working to a present a salvage plan to the Coast Guard.
Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Cleveland also responded to the grounding, and reports that there is no pollution at this time.
Investigators are working to determine what caused the grounding and the Coast Guard will continue to oversee the situation.
