Police are attempting to identify a man caught on surveillance video breaking the window of a St. Bernard convenience store with a brick and running out with a milk crate full of products.

It happened around 1:15 a.m. July 21 at the St. Bernard Market, which is located at 4431 Vine Street. Officers said the man tried to break the front glass door with a brick but was unsuccessful. He then broke a large window to the right of the door and entered the market, knocking down a candy rack in the process.

Police said a witness heard the window crash. Shortly after, they reported seeing a black male running out of the market with what looked to be a "milk crate full of product," including candy, cigarettes and lottery tickets.

The man ran across Vine Street and got into an older minivan in the Jerry Day Auto parking lot, police said. He then drove on Bertus Avenue toward Mitchell Avenue.

The witness told officers the man appeared to be in his 30s, bald and a stocky build. He was wearing a white button down shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect's identity should contact St. Bernard Police Department Detective Mike Matheson at (513) 482-7483.
