Vandals have struck again in Findlay, targeting another patriotic display on Main Street. A storefront on the 100 block of South Main Street was vandalized on Saturday, July 26, around 3 a.m. According to Findlay Police reports, a suspect smashed a hole through the window of a storefront with a July 4 display, ripping plants out of the display. "We always try to keep something patriotic in these windows here," said Doug McCracken, who owns the property with his wife Lois. The couple says they have owned several rental properties along Main Street since the 1980s, but they have never been targeted by vandals before. One week ago, someone cut up American flags hanging from poles along North Main Street. No arrests have been made in either case.
A mortar attack kills several Israeli soldiers on Monday while a Hamas infiltration puts the Israeli military on high alert. At the scene of the Israel-Gaza border the Israeli military fires multiple artillery rounds into Gaza in response. Flares light up the night sky on Israel's side of the border presumably to help Israeli forces hunt Palestinian militants who may have sneaked into Israel. With the fighting in full force and deadly attacks on both sides, a cease-fire looks as far away as ever.
