Berea, OH (WOIO) - The Cleveland Browns on Wednesday signed DB Jim Leonhard. General Manager Ray Farmer made the announcement.
Leonhard is a 5-8, 188-pound veteran entering his 10th NFL season out of Wisconsin. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by Buffalo in 2006, Leonhard has started 68 of his 126 career games. He has tallied 377 tackles, 32 passes defensed, 12 interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
He has spent time with Buffalo (2005-07, 2013), Baltimore (2008), the New York Jets (2009-11) and Denver (2012). Last season, he appeared in all 16 games with seven starts and registered 37 tackles and a career-high four interceptions.
Leonhard appeared in 51 games with 39 starts at Wisconsin. He recorded 281 tackles, 21 interceptions and was the Big Ten leader in punt return yardage with 1,347. A native of Tony, Wis., Leonhard graduated from Flambeau High School.
The Browns roster is currently at 89 players.
