Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley was sentenced Thursday to six-months of suspended jail time and one year probation for two arrests. In 2012 he was picked up for reckless driving, the other was for possession of marijuana.
The judge sentenced Fairley while he was practicing Thursday. Fairley's lawyer made a statement to the media that his presence in court was not mandated so he decided to practice instead. It is not known if the NFL will punish Fairley. He is coming off of one of his best seasons after being injured in 2012.
Lions GM, Martin Mayhew, said, "Nick had a good offseason thus far….he's been healthy, he's been engaged, he's been in the weight room, doing things that we've asked him to do. So I've been happy with what he's done to date."
