Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball is undergoing surgery on his appendix on Monday, according to a source told to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Shefter. This surgery that usually only keeps players out for a couple weeks, shouldn't hinder Ball being ready for the regular season opener against the Indianapolis Colts on September 7th.

Ball is in a starter position this season, after the team let Knowshon Moreno leave into free agency where he was signed by the Miami Dolphins.

Moreno succeeded 1,000 yards rushing with 60 receptions just last season, all while Ball lost three fumbles in the team's first 10 games. After that, he didn't lose the ball the entire season and ended up with 559 yards rushing and four touchdowns. His 4.7 yards per carry were the most among the teams top backs.
