Former Browns player and running back, Peyton Hillis has moved up to No. 2 on the Giants' depth chart. The former Madden cover boy and rookie Andre Williams are the two running backs that have the best chance to take snaps after starter, Rashad Jennings. The Giants feel that it's crucial to rotate at the position and with David Wilson now done, Hillis' opportunities to show his stuff will be significant.
During Saturday's Hall of Fame game against the Buffalo Bills, Hillis rushed for 36 yards on seven carries. After a standout performance from rookie, Andre Williams, he will get time with the first team on Sunday to see if he can make an impact quickly. If he can't, Hillis will be there to save the day while Williams sharpens his skills in practice.
Hillis told media, "I think we have a lot of guys who can go out there and produce. I still think it's going to be a great running back group. I do. I think we've really improved the offensive line, and I think we have backs in the backfield that can hit. So I think we can have a great group."
