It was released Tuesday that Brian Hoyer is listed as the Brown's starting QB on the first depth chart. Johnny Manziel is listed as the backup just one day after he got to share some time with Hoyer on first-team reps.
Head coach, Mike Pettine said that anything could change after every game; unintentionally playing into the media hoopla. He also mentioned that there are a lot of positions where he'd rather list co-starters. And even though Pettine didn't out right say that Hoyer was the starter, all signs seem to point that way. Hoyer is doing slightly better in camp and has all the trust being the veteran.
Pettine told media, "Where Hoyer is ahead is his ability to throw a ball before a guy breaks open. But we certainly see Johnny making strides in that direction." He also spoke about Josh Gordon and his appeal. Gordon will play against Detroit in the first preseason game Saturday if a ruling hasn't been made.
