ST. BERNARD, OH (FOX19) -

A 17-year-old is in custody after a high-speed police chase ended in a crash Sunday morning.

According to police, the chase started after they spotted an SUV that was reported stolen a few days earlier.

Three teens were sleeping inside the stolen vehicle, according to police. Two of them, ages 15 and 13, were arrested, the third 17-year-old suspect fled on foot.

Police say the teen stole a bicycle and rode away from police for several blocks before hopping into a running St. Bernard service truck.

Cincinnati Police and St. Bernard Police units were called off the chase when speeds hit about 70mph.

According to St. Bernard Police, their chase policy is determined at the discretion of the supervisor. In this case, a supervisor had determined that the chase was becoming unsafe, and ordered officers to stop.

After those units were called off, the driver crossed paths with Springfield Township Police and those officers took over.

The chase ended in a crash near North College Hill high school. The driver hit stop sticks that were put down by officers and crashed into a power pole. Duke Energy crews were also called to the scene to clean up.

According to Springfield Township Police, the suspect struck three other cars during the pursuit but no injuries were reported.

All three teens involved in the original theft of the SUV have been charged with felony auto theft. They are reportedly residents of Avondale.

Police say the 17-year-old will likely be additionally charged with vandalism and several traffic violations.

St. Bernard Police say they will handle the investigation.
