AKRON, OH (WOIO) - A 32-year-old man was shot in the hand, after leaving a gas station around 3:00 a.m. Saturday.
The victim tells police after pumping his gas, he was flagged down by a pedestrian on West Thornton Street.
The pedestrian told the victim his gas cap was open.
When the victim got out of the car to close the gas cap, the armed suspect approached him and demanded the victim's belongings.
The victim took off running and the suspect fired several shots, striking the victim in the right hand.
The victim hid behind a tree until he felt it was safe to go back to his car. He then drove himself to Akron General Medical Center.
Akron Police Officers are asking anyone with information to contact their department.
