After a wet and rainy day of Training Camp at Browns headquarters in Berea, Head Coach Mike Pettine was not ready to announce a change at the quarterback position. "Nothing's changed,'' he said. "If there was a significant change on the depth chart, it would be reflected on the field.'' Brian Hoyer spent the day getting reps with the first-team offense, Johnny Manziel worked with the back ups.
When asked what he needed to see out of Manziel the coach said, "Just continue to master his craft. Run the offense. Be efficient. I don't think there's any one thing like it's a tangible thing where you can say if he does this then this will happen." Some have wondered if he would start Manziel just to start him, a move Pettine did not seem to embrace, "I don't know if I'd agree with that. To me, if you're going to put a guy in a starting role, that needs to be earned."
