MIDDLEFIELD, OH (WOIO) - Geauga County Sheriff's Office responded to calls that a man on a street corner was trying to give away a toddler.
Geauga County Sheriff Dan McClelland said, "the investigation revealed that the suspect had entered an unlocked apartment and removed the two-year-old and was trying to give him away."
Seth Malko, 21, was at Hayes and Kinsman roads in Middlefield Township with the boy at 12:25 a.m. Monday when the first 911 call came in.
The second call sent the officers to an apartment where Malko was holding a small child.
When officers got there they say Malko was delusional and admitted to recreational narcotics use.
The child, Blake Troyer, was returned to parents unharmed, they never realized the child was taken.
Lucy Troyer said, "If the cops hadn't showed up, if I hadn't been called, it's hard to know where he would have ended up with him."
Malko is charged with third-degree felony burglary and second-degree felony kidnapping with a $150,000 cash or surety bond.
