Some charges dropped against Bedford Muni Court Judge

Several of the most serious criminal charges against Bedford Muni Court Judge Harry Jacob III were dismissed on Tuesday.

Jacob's bench trial on corruption related charges began August 6.

On Tuesday, Jacob's attorney asked Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Brian Corrigan to drop all charges.

Judge Corrigan agreed to dismiss the bribery and dereliction of duty charges, along with seven other charges; however, Jacob still faces 11 other criminal counts.

Prosecutors say Jacob solicited sex from at least three prostitutes and supervised and induced the activities of at least two women who were engaging in sex for hire.

Another court employee charged in the case, former Bedford Law Director and Prosecutor Kenneth Schuman, pled guilty last month to a public corruption offense. He will be sentenced Sept. 3.
