TALLMADGE, OH (WOIO) - Tallmadge Police, in conjunction with the Cuyahoga County Internet Crimes against Children held a three-day sting operation to catch child predators.
Undercover agents responded to people who were soliciting sex from minors on social media. The four arrested arranged to meet what they thought was a 14-year-old at a certain location.
Using an undercover decoy, the four men showed up and were arrested without incident. The arrests happened from August 13-15.
23-year old Kevin J. Smith of Cleveland, was arrested and charged with attempted unlawful sex with a minor and importuning. He is also an employee at a day care center in Cleveland.
Tallmadge resident Dustin L. Bowers, 27, was charged with two counts of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and attempted unlawful sex with a minor.
Brian H. Brown, of Cuyahoga Falls was already a tier three sex offender who may have just left his probation appointment to meet with the teen. He was convicted of sexual battery in early 2014. The 38-year-old is facing more charges in connection with this arrest.
Andy Wayne County resident Daniel D. Miller, 28, was also arrested and charged with attempted unlawful sex with a minor and importuning.
The suspects are in the Summit County Jail and will be in Stow Municipal Court sometime this week. The grand jury will hear criminal charges next week.
