19 Action News Reporter Ed Gallek is following developments in a series of horrific attacks on pets, some even caught on camera.
We've learned of an arrest warrant out for a man suspected of shooting a cat, charges just filed in the case of a dog beaten to death, and a man just went to court for burning a cat alive.
First, justice for Jack. The Animal Protective League says it has now identified a man seen on a home security camera petting a cat then shooting it. Happened on Cleveland's west side back in June.
Meantime, D'erise Carson just went to court to begin facing charges related to burning a cat alive on Cleveland's west side. He'd been wanted for months. First District officers finally found him and caught him after a long foot chase. A city judge ordered Carson held on $35,000 bond.
Plus, charges have just been filed against a man in Cleveland for wearing boxing gloves and beating a Chihuahua. The dog died.
All this comes after police in Akron busted a teen for kicking a cat in a video posted on Facebook.
The APL wants to see stiffer penalties for animal abuse. They say they are seeing more of the most serious kinds of cases, but why that is happening is still not clear.
