According to Yahoo! Sports, Notre Dame announced Friday that four of their football players will not be allowed to participate in school athletic activities as the university continues an investigation into academic misconduct. In a statement, Notre Dame said there was "evidence that students had submitted papers and homework that had been written for them by others."
On July 29, that evidence was reported to the school athletics office which jump started the investigation. The NCAA was notified and the school announced on Friday afternoon during a news conference that DaVaris Daniels (WR), KeiVarae Russell (DB), Ishaq Williams (DL), Kendall Moore (LB) and some other non-student-athletes are being investigated.
There is no evidence that Head Coach Brian Kelly or the other coaches having known about the situation. Rev. John Jenkins, president of Notre Dame stated, "We have great confidence in Brian and his staff and they been nothing but supportive in the investigation."
The players will not be allowed to attend practices or games until the investigation is over. Daniels, Russell and Williams were all expected to start this season.
