After a week-long competition, the Gay Games came to a close Saturday night.

Activities started late and went on for hours at Mall C in downtown Cleveland. The evening wrapped up with an after party at the House of Blues

An estimated 40,000 people came from all over the world to watch the events, with only about 8,000 of them athletes. Dozens of events happened all over northeast Ohio, from Cleveland to Wickliffe, to Akron.

With guests needing accommodations, such as food and hotels, organizers estimate a $56 million boost to the local economy.

Having more visitors to the city meant a need for more security. Still, there were no reports of violence or intolerance. Many visitors said they enjoyed traveling around the city and people seemed very friendly.
