STREETSBORO, OH (WOIO) -

Streetsboro Police took to Facebook to share a positive story with the community after a long week of police policies and motives under scrutiny in media following a deadly officer-involved shooting in Ferguson, MO.

The department said they wanted to show the act of kindness by one of their own, and show the compassionate side of being an officer.

After receiving several calls of a man trying to cross SR14 in his motorized wheel chair near Kmart, Officer Tom Ondecker responded.

He found the male at Stricklands getting ice cream.

Officer Ondecker decided to walk with the male to his residence, at Maplewood Care Center, which was nearly a half mile away.

He carried the male's groceries that were purchased from Aldi.

Streetsboro Police say Officer Ondecker is a great example of what it really means to be a police officer.
