ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested fugitive Dana Woods, 47, around 8 a.m. Friday at a residence in the 400 block of West 11th Street in Elyria.
Woods was wanted by the Lorain County Sheriff's Office for failure to register as a sex offender stemming from a case in 2006 where he was convicted of gross sexual imposition of a child under the age of 12. The NOVFTF adopted the fugitive investigation earlier this week and began the hunt for Woods.
Woods was added to the NOVFTF's "Agonizing 8" most wanted sex offender list on Thursday and was profiled in the local media. As a result, the NOVFTF received a tip early Friday morning with the location where Woods was currently residing. The NOVFTF immediately responded to this tip and located and arrested Woods at the residence without incident. Woods was then transported to the Lorain County Jail.
"This is another great example of the success of our coordination with the media and the public leading directly to the arrest of a dangerous sex offender. Working together, we are making a difference in our communities," said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.
