AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Around 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, emergency crews were called to the scene of a motorcycle crash in Akron that occurred in the intersection of Ackley and Arlington.
According to Lt. Edwards with Akron Police, officers noticed two motorcyclists speeding near Exchange Street. They tried to catch up to tell them to slow down but they were traveling too fast.
Then, one of the bikers hit a 13-year-old boy as he was riding his bike across Arlington Street.
The motorcyclist was ejected and his body flew under another car that was traveling down Arlington. His motorcycle was found a half block away. The other motorcyclist left the scene.
Two officers at the scene are being credited with saving the life of the teen, by applying pressure to his leg. Unfortunately, the teen lost his leg in surgery on Monday.
